The Glen Valley Organic Farm Co-operative owns a stunning 50-acre farm located in Abbotsford BC.  In existance since 1998, the farm is a successful model of co-operative, organic agriculture.  The farm has over 50 shareholders with an interesting variation in backgrounds, yet who all share strong interests in sustainable agriculture and preserving farmland for local food production.  The farm is blessed with rich, floodplain soil that its organic farmers have preserved and cared for to provide some of the tastiest produce there is–when Joanna asked why their produce was so flavourful, farmer Jeremy Pitchford described it simply: soil rich in minerals and other nutrients equals tasty produce.  One of the other unique activities this farm undertakes is their efforts to create opportunities for learning about sustainability, welcoming visitors to the farm for open houses, giving tours to school (or homeschool) groups, hosting work parties, and other events.
